How your donation makes a difference

CHHD is joining with the Social Work, Anthropology, and Community Service Learning Depts. at JMU to try to raise $10,000 for Dominica relief. This island and the community of Paix Bouch has hosted students and alumni and interns and faculty for over 20 years. We have a deep and long relationship. The island was decimated by hurricane Marie last month. Please donate generously if you can.

Global mental health in Central America: In 2016 we completed several program studies that were published and reflect multiple types of program benefits. In 2015-2017 we expanded our education and support program in El Salvador to several new sites in rural areas. In November 2017 we will hold our third annual regional mental health conference for consumers/users and families in Panama. On average, over a 12-month period, we leverage $8.26 in grant funding for every $1 contributed by individual donors. The end result? More people with mental illness and their families receiving education, support and empowerment programs, more civil society groups advocating for improved national mental health systems in low and middle income countries, and more people providing support to their own families. Thank you!
